MouthPad's Operating Modes: Tongue and Head Cursor Control

The MouthPad has two main modalities of operation: tongue cursor control and head cursor control + tongue gestures. In both modalities we can use our MP as if it was a mouse or trackpad.

Here is a video of Corten giving an overview of how these two main modes work:

General controls and gestures

Left Click

Press your tongue against the trackpad on the roof of your mouth. With the app open, you will see the blue line go up as you apply pressure. A click will happen once the blue line crosses the green line.

Right Click

A right click ******is achieved by a sharp suction. This is usually achieved with your mouth closed, and your tongue off of the touchpad. One helpful technique is to imagine you are sucking through a straw, but with your lips closed (almost like a kissing gesture).

Scroll

Tongue Cursor Control:

Scrolling is achieved by starting the tongue off of the trackpad, and then steadily moving the tip of the tongue from front-to-back, or back-to-front. By default, front-to-back is scroll down, and back-to-front is scroll up. At the end of the gesture, if the tongue is held in place, the MouthPad^ will continue to scroll for some time.

Head Cursor Control:

Scrolling is achieved by placing the tip of the tongue at the front or back of the mouth, and holding the tongue in place there. As the tongue is held in place, the MouthPad^ will continue to scroll for some time.

Click and Drag

There are two options, and hopefully you know which one is set up for you from your original MouthPad^ configuration session with us.
