MouthPad^ not discoverable

If the MouthPad^ is advertising (light is blinking BLUE), but it is not appearing in the Bluetooth search settings of your device, try bringing the MouthPad^ closer to the device.

If the light is not blinking blue, try shaking the device. This will wake it from Sleep Mode. If it then starts blinking BLUE, you can proceed as normal. If it still does not blink blue, the battery may be dead — try charging it. If it is blinking green, this likely means that it is already connected, but perhaps to a different nearby device — try disabling the Bluetooth of your other devices.

Cursor control not working as expected

Head Cursor Control

Head Cursor Control works by moving your head Left/Right/Up/Down in the direction of the desired cursor movement. As a reminder, when making contact with your tongue on the MouthPad^ in Head Cursor Control mode, this will temporarily ‘stop’ all cursor motion to allow you to reset your head position without accidentally moving the cursor across the screen — this technique also lets you ‘ratchet’ the cursor across wide screens. There are 2 things to note about this:

  1. You may accidentally rest your tongue on the MouthPad^ during intended movement, which will ‘halt’ the motion (or potentially cause it to feel choppy). Be sure to keep your tongue off of the MouthPad^ when trying to move the cursor.
    1. If accidental touches keep happening, refer to the Touch Threshold Setting to help reduce the touch sensitivity of the trackpad
  2. You may accidentally press too hard when resting your tongue MouthPad^ in an attempt to use the ‘ratchet’ method, which will trigger a Click-and-Drag gesture that enables cursor movement. Be sure to only use a light, soft touch with the tongue (no pressure needed) when attempting to ‘stop’ Head Cursor motion.

Tongue Cursor Control

There are two main sources for this problem:

  1. Tongue touch technique: try controlling the cursor with an open mouth. This helps to force a more accurate touch with the tip of the tongue and train your mouth to use the MouthPad^. If possible, try to have your tongue approach the trackpad from outside the perimeter, easing gradually onto the trackpad in the desired direction so as to avoid mistaken tongue touches.
  2. Touchpad lost calibration: try to recalibrate the trackpad.

Lagging/jumping cursor movement

Sometimes this happens if you are at the outer limits of the MouthPad^’s range. Try moving yourself closer to the device you are controlling. You can also try Turning On/Off the Bluetooth on the device you are controlling, as well as Removing/Forgetting and Re-connecting to the MouthPad^. Lastly, placing the MouthPad^ in it’s charging case momentarily will shut of the device power and allow it to reset.

This can also happen if the MouthPad^’s battery is low, try charging it if this might be the case.

Head Cursor Control

When in Head Cursor Control mode specifically, you may accidentally be making contact with your tongue (or accidental saliva) on the MouthPad^. This will ‘stop’ Head Cursor Motion for the duration that a touch is detected. You can either try recalibrating the trackpad or adjusting the Touch Threshold Setting to make the trackpad less sensitive to accidental touches.

Tongue Cursor Control

  1. Cursor speed: Try reducing cursor speed on your MouthPad or in the settings for the device you are controlling (your computer or phone).
