We specifically require an intraoral 3D scanner (the wand-type camera, not a CBCT) and a copy of the scan’s .STL file. Be sure to send your provider the guide below:

If you would like to visit your dentist:
Explain you’ve ordered a retainer-like device for tongue-based computer control. Ask if they have an intraoral 3D scanner (such as iTero, Trios, etc.). If yes, proceed with next steps here!
If they do not have the right scanner: Ask them to kindly refer you to an office that might.
If you do not have a dentist (or they cannot assist):

🦷
We recommend a dental exam before your scan and regular checkups while using the MouthPad^ (as noted in our eligibility criteria.) As such, you may wish to find a dentist that takes your insurance, in addition to having the scanner we need.

- Explore our network of accessible scanning partners using the database below. (If we have a partner near your address, you should have received their information — but bugs happen!)
- Call dentists in your area! Explain you’ve ordered a retainer-like device for tongue-based computer control and that you need an intraoral 3D scan (such as iTero, Trios, etc.). ****If they are interested, proceed with next steps here! A few tips:
- Let the office know if you are interested in becoming a regular patient. Many users are able to schedule a new-patient exam, cleaning, and intraoral scan on the same day.
- Already have a dentist, but they cannot assist? Try calling orthodontic centers that offer Invisalign — they are likely to have the scanner we need.
- The first couple offices you contact may decline due to unfamiliarity with our technology. Don’t lose hope! Third one’s the charm, in many cases.
If you need help finding a center:
If you have not been able to find a scanning location, let us know at [email protected], and we will be happy to assist. (A list of centers that have declined would help our search.) This option may take some time — we appreciate your patience!
